Stefan Sagmeister is a graphic designer who has carved his own niche and style different from all other designers. His work often sits in an 'undefinable' space that has some relationship to traditional graphic design. Although he works in different mediums and projects, he is probably most well known for his hand created typography and his unconventional book designs. Related to our book project, I am most interested in his book design work. His books are always 'interactive' and entice the reader to play with the book in a variety of ways.
Shown here are three different books. One uses a printing technique to change the image of a dog from being gentle to looking very vicious. Another book uses a die-cut image of the designers face on the outside of a box. Inside the box are several small books with different covers. The die-cut face changes depending on what book is placed behind the image, changing the entire look of the book. The other book is very pragmatic in comparison. The book uses color coding on the outside of the book, on the cover and the pages, to act as an interactive guide to use the book in different sections. The outside is also die-cut.

Amazing!
Sagmeister came to VCUQ for Tasmeem in 2005. He made quite an impact!
Yes, during my freshman year, only I was too busy stalking Nicholas Blechman at the time to realize how awesome Sagmeister was/is! :P
