The Man and The Two Thieves

Collected by Fatima Al-Malki

Once upon a time, a man was in his house preparing to eat dinner. At the same moment, two thieves were outside the man’s house peering in a window. They were watching the man, and waiting for him to go to bed so they could rob him.

The man had grilled camel in front of him. The camel’s head and one of its legs was burned. The man was trying to decide where to begin eating. He asked himself “Hmm, should I eat the burned head, or the burned leg?”

The two thieves heard what the man said. One of thieves turned to the other and asked “Don’t you have a burn on your leg?”

“Yes!” the thief answered, “And I can see that you have a burn on your head!”

The thieves thought that the man was talking about them, so they ran away.

The man decided to eat the leg. He enjoyed his dinner, and he never knew how close he came to being robbed.
