The Sand and the Rock

Two friends, Qasim and Khaled were walking in the desert. During their journey they started arguing. Suddenly, Qasim slapped Khaled on the face. Although Khaled was hurt, he didn’t say a word, instead he wrote in the sand: “Today my best friend slapped me on the face.” Later, Khaled fell into quicksand and Qasim grabbed him and pulled him to safety. Afterwards, Qasim etched on a rock: “Today my best friend saved my life.” Qasim asked Khaled, “Why did write in the sand when I slapped you, but you wrote on a rock when I saved you?” Khaed replied, “when somebody hurts us, it should be written on the sand so the wind can erase it, but if somebody does something kind, it should be written on a rock so it can never be erased.”
